You’re Fed Up
You’re sick and tired of carrying extra weight around and and you’re ready to lose it. For good. It seems like there’s a new magic formula every single day, but what is going to work for you? Do you join the nearest Planet Fitness or do a 30 day juice cleanse? You’ve probably heard of Crossfit, but will that really help you lose the unwanted weight? Don’t you need more cardio rather than more weight lifting?
Ready for the Truth?
- If you are not currently doing any form of physical activity, any type of increase in exercise WILL benefit you.
- Nothing will work unless it becomes a routine.
- No amount of exercise will truly out-weigh consistently poor diet choices.
- You do NOT have to “get in shape” to begin Crossfit
- More muscle = more calories burned.
Fear vs. Reality
There are two very common perspectives of people fearful to begin Crossfit. The first is, “I’m not in good enough shape to do Crossfit.” The second is, “Crossfit is all weight lifting and I need cardio to lose weight.” Before we move on let me gently smash both of those misconceptions into the ground. Here is the reality… There is no such thing as being “too out of shape to begin Crossfit.” Heck, there’s no such thing as being too out of shape to begin any type of exercise program! Beginning an exercise regime is FULLY beneficial for you in all ways: mentally, physically, spiritually, and psychologically. Crossfit specifically has three very unique aspects that provide extra aid to your health goals. →First and foremost, Crossfit style workouts are designed around functional movements, so everything you do will translate into your daily activities. →Secondly, a coach leads every single workout. Gone are the days where you walk into a gym and stare at 60 different machines wondering what in the world you should do to lose that weight. →Lastly, every single workout can be scaled to fit your needs. This means you can easily adjust any movement, rep count, or weight to target your specific abilities. So if you walk into a Crossfit box and see a guy throwing around 250 lbs, don’t turn around and walk back out the door. You are not expected to do that! As far as the ongoing debate between cardio vs. weights goes, Crossfit workouts include both. Every day. So there’s no need to question if you’re getting what you “need”. Along with that, the more muscle you develop, the more calories your body will burn while you are working out. Its truly a win-win situation!
